A Single Man is in my plan list then hope to see it soon. First of all I love Julianne Moore which plays in it, secondly the film was directed by fashion designer Tom Ford and this fact makes it pretty interesting.

The story is based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. Set in Los Angeles in 1962, at the height of the Cuban missile crisis, it is the story of a British college professor (Colin Firth) who is struggling to find meaning to his life after the death of his long time partner. This is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human condition, and ultimately the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life.

The film is produced by Tom Ford through his Los Angeles based production company, Fade to Black, in association with Chris Weitz and Andrew Miano of Depth of Field, and Robert Salerno of Artina Films. The screenplay is written by Tom Ford and David Scearce.

Starring: Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode, Nicholas Hoult, Ginnifer Goodwin
Director: Tom Ford

Since she was orphaned, Sue has been brought up amongst pickpockets and charlatans. She’s been protected and cared for by Mrs Sucksby (Imelda Staunton), who believes Sue is too good a girl to get directly involved in such a world. But when Mrs Sucksby’s old friend Rivers offers 20-year-old Sue £3000 to assist him in one of his scams, Mrs Sucksby agrees to conspire.

Arriving at the estate where Maud lives with her wealthy Uncle Lilly (Charles Dance), Sue enters another world. Maud and Sue are of a similar age and appearance but their experience of life couldn’t be further apart. Maud’s existence is one of wealth and prosperity inside a grand house, where her duties are limited to nightly readings to her uncle and his friends.

The two young women become friends but Sue’s growing feelings for Maud cannot prevent her from going through with Rivers’s scam. On Sue’s advice, Maud accepts Rivers’ proposal of marriage.

But not everyone is who they appear to be, and a series of plot twists leave viewers unsure of who can be trusted.

As to “Avatar”, it’s no so easy to express my feelings as I thought before. It is, no doubt, an amazing spectacle – though I was expecting something like this, but got more than expected. It’s important that this is not clear computer animation, which has no relation to the true cinematography, like “2012″ is, with its various unrealistic effects and great number well-known imprints. Frankly saying, Avatar is also can be reproached with over-use of all existing stamps – but at the same time it has a very fascinating and absolutely unpredictable scenario then this fact rises the movie to another level. On the other hand, I guess that two and a half hundreds millions of dollars is price good enough for the scenario that must be.

It seems that director of Avatar, James Cameron behaves like a boy, carrying to the movie screen all his dreams and fantasies over though it were high technologies or erotic dreams (despite the inhabitants of the planet Pandora are totally deprived of primary sexual characteristics, however their shapes, movements and facial expressions came exactly from wet teen dreams. The fact is Cameron invented an unreal steep tale and embodied it on the movie screen then he is praiseworthy for that, but

But the point is there is a big lie in Avatar. This movie as a product of the era of high technology is likely protects the mother-nature from these technologies, and ultimate leftist manifesto about self-determination of developing countries is advertised by McDonald. That confused me. It’s not funny at all it is rather ridiculous, rude and finally disgusting. And, besides, most part of the audience, reared with much care exactly by products produced by such corporations, look this movie as a high-tech show – just belching with Coca-Cola, throwing over with popcorn and unstopping laughing all the time. After all “Avatar” is just a high-tech show independently what kind of massage Cameron wanted to put in.

All moves I loved you can check out ‘My Favorites’ tag. Now I’d like to talk about the one I’ve watched right now. This is J’ai toujours rêvé d’être un”.

This film by French film director and screenwriter Samuel Benshetri “I always wanted to be a gangster” consists of four stories where each of them is the story about people who tried to become real gangsters, but could not. Every time desperate heroes have to make a choice between an honest poverty and crime they cant choose crime because comic absurdity keep them from the fatal step. All of them are joined by the fact that most of their time they spend in a cheap roadside cafe. “I always wanted to be a gangster” is tragicomedy, recalling images of Chaplin’s personages which make people laugh through their tears. Samuel Benshetri knows how to make so without falling in vulgarity.

The movie starts from the classic gag: man in pantyhose on his head hits the telegraph-pole and falls down. This is easiest way to using the situation comedy make people to laugh but actually it’s not so easy. Benshetri skillfully manipulates emotions of spectators, making them not only laugh, but also compassionate. Here is gangster-loser who is trying to rob a roadside cafe, but fails, getting acquainted with the beautiful waitress. Or the two intelligent-looking men stealing the girl-emo, which greatly complicates the life of kidnappers. There are elderly gangsters among inhabitants of the cafe which had a plan to kill their old gangster-friend at his own request, and two aged, forgotten rocker who still decide which of them was better.

Ther picture is created very stylish in black and white fool of quotations: here and Tarantino’s cafe, as in “Pulp Fiction” and the long, somewhat strange dialogues, and Jim Jarmusch’s style strange dialogs, and flashbacks made in the style of early Chaplin. But Benshetri is not trying to disguise references on their favorite characters. A gangster theme is just a way allowing to recall one more time that life is not easy and simular problems are familiar to every citizen of any city, and such stories could happen anywhere, anytime. It appears that even if life is unbearably heavy, not everyone can make a step over at this point it is important what is the hero’s soul, but not what he has in his pocket. All inhabitants of this cafe are infinitely good and charming people.

Tom: Darling. I don’t know how to tell you this, but there’s a Chinese family in our bathroom.

Tom: It’s official. I’m in love with Summer.
[while Montage of Summer plays]
Tom: I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps.

Paul: [Opens the door to Tom's apartment] We didn’t know who to call.
McKenzie: It’s Amanda Heller all over again.
Rachel Hansen: You did the right thing.

Rachel Hansen: Just some guy she met at the gym with Brad Pitt’s face and Jesus’ abs.

Rachel Hansen: Just because she’s likes the same bizzaro crap you do doesn’t mean she’s your soul mate.

Author’s Note: The following is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Especially you Jenny Beckman. Bitch.

Partygoer: So Tom, what is it that you do?
Tom: I uh, I write greeting cards.
Summer: Tom could be a really great architect if he wanted to be.
Partygoer: That’s unusual, I mean, what made you go from one to the other?
Tom: I guess I just figured, why make something disposable like a builing when you can make something that last forever, like a greeting card.

Summer: We’ve been like Sid and Nancy for months now.
Tom: Summer, Sid stabbed Nancy, seven times with a kitchen knife, I mean we have some disagreements but I hardly think I’m Sid Vicious.
Summer: No I’m Sid.
Tom: Oh, so I’m Nancy…
[Pancakes arrive]
Summer: Let’s just eat and we’ll talk about it later. Mmm, that is good, I’m really glad we did this. I love these pancakes… what?
[Tom gets up and walks away from the table]
Summer: Tom, don’t go! You’re still my best friend!

Narrator: This is a story of boy meets girl. But you should know up front, this is not a love story.

Rachel Hansen: Tom, I know you think she was the one, but I don’t. Next time you look back, I think you should look again.

Tom: I feel like why make some disposable like a building and make something that lasts, like a greeting card.

Rachel Hansen: You know, all my friends love you and think you’re great. It’s like they say, there’s plenty of fish in the sea.
Tom: [Looks at a group of twelve year old girls who wave at him and giggle] Those aren’t fish. They’re guppies.

Rachel Hansen: Better that you find this out now before you come home and find her in bed with Lars from Norway.
Tom: Who’s Lars from Norway?
Rachel Hansen: He’s some guy she met at the gym with Brad Pitt’s face and Jesus’ abs.

Summer: You weren’t wrong, Tom. You were just wrong about me.

Rachel Hansen: Quit being a pussy.

Vance: [reading a card that Tom has written] Roses are red, violets are blue… Fuck you, whore!

Narrator: This is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate, New Jersey, grew up believing that he’d never truly be happy until the day he met the one. This belief stemmed from early exposure to sad British pop music and a total mis-reading of the movie ‘The Graduate’. The girl, Summer Finn of Shinnecock, Michigan, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of her parent’s marriage she’d only love two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and not feel a thing. Tom meets Summer on January 8th. He knows almost immediately she is who he has been searching for. This is a story of boy meets girl, but you should know upfront, this is not a love story.

Tom: She took a giant shit on my face. Literally.
Alison: Literally?
Tom: Well, no, not literally. That’s disgusting.

Tom: [Montage of Summer] I hate her crooked teeth. I hate the way she smacks her lips. I hate her knooby knees. I hate that cockroach shape splotch on her neck.
[Fade to black]
Tom: [Swayze's She's Like the Wind plays briefly] I HATE THIS SONG!
Bus Driver: [Open to Tom standing while bus comes to a sudden stop] Sir, you need to get off the bus.

Summer: I woke up one morning and I just knew.
Tom: Knew what?
Summer: What I was never sure of with you.

Tom: Darling…
[Summer looks up at him]
Tom: I don’t know how to tell you this, but… there’s a Chinese family in our bathroom.

Tom: My name’s Tom.
Girl at Interview: [shaking hands] Nice to meet you. I’m Autumn.

Narrator: Most days of the year are unremarkable. They begin, and they end, with no lasting memories made in between. Most days have no impact on the course of a life. May 23rd was a Wednesday.

Tom: Paul, seriously…
Paul: Did you bang her?
Tom: No!
Paul: Blow job?
Tom: No!
Paul: Hand job?
Tom: No, Paul, no jobs. I’m still unemployed. We just kissed.

Summer: I named my cat after Springsteen.
Tom: Cool… what was his name?
Summer: Bruce.

Paul: Robin is better than the girl of my dreams. She’s real.

Tom: You don’t want to be named as someone’s boyfriend, and now your someone’s wife?
